For many woman, they have not heard of the term Perimenopause, nor do they understand what it means.

If you are on the pill, the pill can also mask Perimenopause symptoms (such as subtle hormonal shifts and irregular periods!

Our current research shows that over 50% of woman who responded did not know about Perimenopause and was unaware that it generally starts in a woman’s 40’s!  In fact the current age of menopause (see definitions) is just 51!

We strongly suggest that woman in their 40’s self assess against our Menopause Survey.  The survey is comprehensive and outlines a number of symptoms and issues faced by women in perimenopause or menopause.

There is much misconception about the symptoms of menopause.  Mainly because much of the focus is on HRT and hot flushes and night sweats. However, many woman do not gain relief by HRT and in fact many woman cannot take HRT (e.g. ex cancer patients).  In fact other drugs, psychological approaches and natural therapies can assist in these and other symptoms.

Menopause is so much more complex than oestrogen reduction. The endocrine system is complex and actually affects your digestion and organ function as well.  This includes the whole digestive system, including your liver, kidneys and circulatory systems.

We hypothesise (having researched and treated many women) that underlying stress in the body is one of the key contributors to severe menopause symptoms (as well as many other health issues that are well documented).  This stress is unconscious, but has a massive impact on your body and your endocrine system.  Certainly, when you become aware of stress (conscious stress) you will notice your symptoms escalate.  The research acknowledges that stress is a key contributor to menopausal symptoms.
